Representative photomicrographs of corneal epitheliums in rabbits. The animals were treated with saline as the negative control (a), 1 % ethidium bromide (b), 5 % 1,1′-dimethyl-4,4′-bipyridinium dichloride (paraquat) (c), 3 % methyl methanesulfonate (MMS) (d), 3 % acrylamide (e), 5 % dimethyl sulfoxide in saline (5 % DMSO) as the negative control (f), or 1 % 4-nitroquinoline 1-oxide (4-NQO) (g). The corneas were collected 2 h after dosing, and corneal sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin. No histopathological changes were observed for any of the treatment or control groups.
