Asbestos-induced binucleation and multinucleation in RAW 264.7 cells. Graphs show the frequencies of binucleated (a) and multinucleated cells (b). Cells were incubated in the absence of asbestos (white bars) or in the presence of 25 μg/mL of either unlabeled (striped bars) or fluorescently labeled (black bars) asbestos for 6 h, 12 h, or 24 h. The data represent the mean of three experiments with at least 500 cells per sample, and the error bars represent the standard deviation. Statistical analysis was performed using the two-tailed unpaired Student’s t-test. ★p < 0.05 vs. absence of asbestos
